Who I Am As a Writer

Who am I as a writer? This was a difficult question to think about and answer as I had never put any thought into it. I guess if I were to describe my writing I would say I’m a nervous or self-conscious writer. I always try to choose the best possible phrasing for each individual sentence that I can, while trying not to make them embarrassing to read. As I write I constantly think about the thoughts of the reader, and whether or not my writing is adequate. Even now I’m meticulously picking my words. Although, writing on blogs like we currently are seems to be a great way to fix this struggle. Sharing my writing with supportive people may help me boost my writing confidence. Of course, I will always understand that putting my thoughts and emotions into a paper is a vulnerable task, yet an important one nonetheless. There will always be room to grow as a writer and nobody starts out perfect. Hopefully by the end of this semester I can overcome this hurdle and become a more confident and superior writer.

  1. I understand very well how anxiety-producing writing can be, esp if you’re thinking so hard about each word. I hope the blog format and support from others will help!
